English language course at the Atlantic Language School i Galway, Ireland

We have been lucky enough to go on a language trip to Ireland. It has been a week with a good mix of teaching, cultural experiences and new acquaintances. It has been a great advantage to travel to a school where students come from many different countries. We had a skilled and charming teacher, who, through good and varied teaching methods, challenged us both when it came to grammar, pronunciation and various conversations in English. We have been able to practice "small talk", polite phrases and generally communicated a lot with both teacher and students. It was also useful to learn how to communicate in English in a formal email. We have to admit that the grammar was quite rusty, but it got easier over time.

It was particularly exciting to get to know many new people from different countries. The advantage was that we had to use English all the time, both at school and in the afternoons. It was good to be just the two of us on a trip, and not a larger group. It made it easier for us to mingle with the other students, which we were also aware of. We were on a trip to speak English! We took part in the cultural events, which we recommend to others who are going to travel. At The Kliffs Of Mohere we really got to feel the Irish climate, with torrential rain and strong winds. The city walk was also very educational, where we got to hear the history of Ireland and especially Galway. The highlight of the week was the student evening at the Beer Garden, where we got to know the other students and Irish local music well.

This week we got to know what it's like to be outside the safe bubble, and not least to be a student. On the last day of the course, all the students had to give a presentation to the class and after a week of English it even went quite well. Now it is important to keep the English the same, both by communicating, reading and listening to English. We would love to go on a language trip again!
